Dear Donor Family,
My sweet little boy received a precious gift from your loved one, sight. I know there are no words that can truly express our feelings for your family. I want you to know that your loved one and your family are in our thoughts and prayers every day. One person can make a difference. Your loved one made that difference for our little boy.
At seven weeks old my child was a beautiful baby getting a grasp on the world around him. Beginning to see a little better and wanting to touch everything around him. The last thing you expect to find on an innocent child is an imperfection.
In disbelief, my husband and I found a white spot on the center of Wyatt’s eye and with him appearing to be in discomfort, we headed to the ER. We soon found out that Wyatt had a corneal ulcer and without a transplant, he would lose his eye. As a parent, losing control of your child’s health is frightening. The fear that he would never see again or live a fulfilled life.
After the surgery, the doctor came into the conference room and sat us down and explained that Wyatt did great with surgery, but the fight wasn’t over. He would have to beat the odds to regain his eyesight and that’s exactly what little Wyatt did. Our fighter touched every milestone along the way. With minor setback after a few surgeries, his cornea became a part of his body. After Wyatt received his glasses, it became very clear that his sight was regaining and continues to get stronger day by day.
This would not be possible without the gracious gift that you and your loved one so unselfishly gave. Thank you doesn’t seem to say enough, but “thank you” for the precious gift of sight for our baby Wyatt.
Sincerely,
The Mills Family
